My economic standing
Since I started playing I've been unsure about what to keep, sell, salvage or merch. I've read threads, consulted wiki etc. As a result I've got a bunch of purple stuff.
Is this stuff worth anything or just keep it until I can get the green or gold for my chars & heros? How can I tell if a Green or Gold item I have is worth selling? I don't want to spam the Price check thread. I've noticed that most of my golds have req of 12 usually. Are the req 9 items the only ones people want? I just realized that a) EotN armor is expensive b) I'm poor c) My storage is full of stuff I have no idea what I should do with. I only have a couple gold weaps and don't know if it's worth letting my heros use them or if I should sell them here for big bucks if they're worth it. Any advice would be appreciated. |

Heroes are happy with whatever you give them. So give them something nice but no need for it to be expensive.. Even perfect stat green stuff is cheap as long as you don't want the really rare stuff. purple stuff can be max damage and thats fine for heroes..
Don't get too caught up in your economic standing.. I sold 9 Murakai's Reavers for 1k each today. That's a perfect re9 axe 20/20 15^50 +30hp with a great looking skin for next to nothing. There are plenty of bargains to be found. As long as you stick to a goal and don't start buying stuff just cause someone tells you it's rare or worth heaps you will find yourself with the money to buy the things you want. Don't think that req 9's are the only good things to use.. Sure they get a higher price but if you are in the position that you don't know if what you have is worth anything or not then you probably don't really need to worry about it yet. |

Thanks for the replies.
I guess it's just vanity, I think my ele will look good in some Norn Armour :P My main char has a max damage 20/20 blue fire-staff , most of my heros have purple. I've been keeping an eye on Ventari's corner, have 2 bids in on 2K green items. I don't plan on buying any weapons ( over 2 - 3 K) , just armour. Personally I cant stand even trying to "WTS" spam anything.. i sometimes check party search incase people are looking for stuff i just happen to have but thats about it. Most of my income comes from title whoring.. I've managed to buy 3 elite sets just by doing vanquishing, lightbringer/sunspear runs and HM mission/dungeons. I don't have particularly amazing weapons or anything but i might get all my heroes equiped with tengu/mursaat weapons when I can be bothered to buy the mods.

Perosnnaly i got my money simply from playing the game/vanquishing and farming a bit (in the days when people were still farming in sorrow's furnace). Usually i merch all the golds and purples that are practically worthlesss, salvage the perfect mods if there are any. I used some of those to equip some of my heroes. Keeping the mods will either allow you to make money by selling them or when you find a weapon you like you'll have what it takes to mod it.

Aside from that there are quite a few mods out there at the moment that are going for a reasonable amount so its all about what you have - maybe post everything in ONE thread in price check and get people to tell you what you could do with it? That's easier than spamming them, knowing what to sell is just something that takes experience although like the offer above i'd happily meet with you in game and give you a hand. |

Personally, if i have a purple and heros cant use it, i just merchant it, but take off any good mods if it has it. In regard to golds, if its above req10 and heros cant use it, it is also merchanted. If its req 10 or 9, Ill hold it incase i catch someone saying WTB ... that weapon type...
I try never to spam WTS in the big districts. I might have lost out on over 100k if I spent time trying to sell stuff in those districts over the past few years, however if i wasted that much time, I might be willing to pay 200k to get my wasted time back. Also in the time you are spamming to sell something for only 3k, you could have been out vanquishing making more than that. So in my opinion, just take off good mods and merchant stuff that is purple or gold with req over 10. But thats me, and im not a power trader. |

heroes will use anything you give them and not complain.
there are a lot of collector items that are better than anything else I have had drop for me (and I am poor as well---)... so my basic rule of thumb is: I look at the stats of the items.... does it have things I want (like +health, +energy...are these conditional--when hexed..in a stance...then I wonder "will my ele ever be in a stance????" uhm no ---) so after I look at that then I look to see if its a max (or near max) item---those that are one off are still ok, others are merched. (or salvaged if they have a nice mod). skins are probably one of the last things I look at---well its not max, has mods that I cant use...but its a pretty skin!! merched. on collectable stuff: I usually keep stuff that will break down into things I can use (check wiki) but I use cloth a lot, parchment, hides etc....and most recently granite slabs (will be doing a few serenity temple runs for that soon). I also keep stuff that I have checked up to see if collectors will give me something good for---ok, I keep just about everything like that .....but you get the idea. |

As always thanks for the thoughtful replies. I took screenies of all the golds and a couple purples too. I'll merge them into one pic and post. Right now I have 25 K saved and 250 of Cloth, Iron, Tanned hides and over 200 in bones & dust. I've got 7 other chars at level 6-10. With having EotN it seems like the smartest thing to do would be to get them there and buy 1K armor at the Portal? Just forget about the Norn armour for my ele until all my other have 1 K? (BTW I just realized I can but Ancient Armor also) |
